Boys Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis (BGCSTL) invites applications for the position of Youth Development Professional. The Youth Development Professional is responsible for providing fun and engaging programming to youth aged 6-18. Hours during the school year are typically 2 p.m. - 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. This is a year round position with the opportunity for as many as 40 hours per week over the summer, typically between the hours of 7 a.m. - 6 p.m, Monday through Friday. 


High school diploma required, Associates degree from accredited college or university or BA/BS preferred.
Minimum of one year experience working with children in a group setting, camp counselor experience a plus.
Enthusiasm and patience for working with children and passion about education, health, character development and leadership.
Must be a team player and a self-starter.
Ability to work well with diverse populations.
A high degree of independence, flexibility, self-motivation, and creativity.
Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
Ability to organize and supervise youth in a safe environment.


Promotes and stimulates program participation among members.
Provides guidance and role modeling to members.
Participates in new member orientation process.
Effectively implements and administers programs, services, and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
Monitors and evaluates programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the facility at all times.
Participates in club-wide events.
Prepares activity reports.
May be required to drive Club van.
Delivers programming, including group activities, high yield learning activities, guest speakers, and field trips.
Effectively completes assessments of programs and program participants using a variety of formal and informal assessment tools.
Facilitates and assists with coordination of special events and other youth-oriented activities.
Effectively engages parents through outreach and volunteer activities.
Reviews current programs and recommends changes based on performance data, member input and overall outcomes.
Inputs and gathers data, as appropriate, in the membership management and/or outcomes management system, works with other staff to implement special projects.
Ensures a healthy and safe environment for all members.
Works effectively with supervisor, other staff, members, parents, and community leaders and organizations to provide exemplary services to youth.


Job Type: Part-time

Required experience:

Working professionally with children in a group setting: 1 year

Camp Counselor: 1 year
