Boys Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis (BGCSTL) invites applications for the position of Youth Development Professional. The Youth Development Professional is responsible for providing fun and engaging programming to youth aged 6-18. Schedules during the school year begin as early as 10:00 am and end as late at 8:00 pm. This is a year round position with the opportunity for as many as 40 hours per week over the summer, typically between the hours of 7 a.m. - 6 p.m, Monday through Friday. 

This position is located with our Be Great Graduate program at Normandy High School or Hazelwood East High School.  Experience working with high school aged youth is preferred. 



High school diploma required, Associates degree from accredited college or university or BA/BS preferred.
Minimum of one year experience working with children in a group setting, camp counselor experience a plus.
Enthusiasm and patience for working with children and passion about education, health, character development and leadership.
Must be a team player and a self-starter.
Ability to work well with diverse populations.
A high degree of independence, flexibility, self-motivation, and creativity.
Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
Ability to organize and supervise youth in a safe environment.


Promotes and stimulates program participation among members.
Provides guidance and role modeling to members.
Effectively implements and administers programs, services, and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
Prepares activity reports.
May be required to drive Club van.
Facilitates and assists with coordination of special events and other youth-oriented activities.
Effectively engages parents through outreach and volunteer activities.
Inputs and gathers data, as appropriate, in the membership management and/or outcomes management system, works with other staff to implement special projects.
Ensures a healthy and safe environment for all members.
Works effectively with supervisor, other staff, members, parents, and community leaders and organizations to provide exemplary services to youth.
