Boys & Girls Club of Greater St. Louis (BGCSTL ) invites applications for the position of Vice President, Finance. The

successful candidate must possess the ability to meet short deadlines, provide quality customer service, and handle confidential information with exceptional attention to detail. The Vice President, Finance is the chief financial and business officer of BGCSTL and is responsible for developing the financial policies of the organization and the operational oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting and strategic planning, forecasting, financial analysis, internal controls, compensation and benefits administration, partnership development, and management of the finance team.



  • Establishes and implements policies and procedures for all financial management functions, ensuring appropriate controls and compliance with generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP).


  • Develops plans, prepares and manages budgets, forecasts, and financial results to guide management decisions by forecasting requirements; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions; preparing economic studies and forecasts; developing and providing background information; developing and enforcing planning schedules; and preparing planning narratives


  • Performs monthly reconciliation of internal accounting system, generating financial statements, along with explanatory narrative, for distribution to management and administration


  • Analyzes financial statements to identify areas of concern and opportunities for improvement.


  • Maintains internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs and program budgets and actual expenditures.


  • Oversees all payroll functions and processes.


  • Participates in interviewing and hiring qualified applicants for the finance department according to laws, regulations, and procedures


  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding financial and employee data and information.


  • Additional duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university in relevant field such as accounting, finance, or business administration.


  • A minimum of five years work experience managing the accounting functions in non-profit agency, or equivalent experience.


  • A minimum of seven years experience with accounting software like Sage, Blackbaud General Ledger, Oracle, and/or Fundware as well as MS-Excel.


  • A minimum of two years experience with grants compliance and reporting, with special emphasis on state and federal grants.


  • Excellent customer service skills required


  • Strong organizational skills with particular attention to detail


  • Must be a team player, a self-starter, and possess ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
